BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The College of New Jersey men's soccer team cruised past Brooklyn College on Monday by a final score of 9-0.
The Lions (9-4-2) struck first five minutes into the game for their fastest goal on the year.
Sebastian Leon found
Nick Sample who punched it in to put the Lions out on top. A few minutes later Sample set up
Dante Bettino, and Bettino found the back of the net for his first collegiate goal to put the Lions up 2-0.
TCNJ struck again when
Kevin Esteves scored off of an assist from Leon and
James Pike in the 30
th minute. They were able to add another right before the half ended courtesy of
Dylan Teixeira to make it 4-0. Esteves earned the assist on Teixeira's goal, which marked the first of Teixeira's career.
The Lions were able to pour on five more goals in the second half.
Abdullah Afridi,
Kevin Ordonez, and
John Taylor all scored one while Teixeira and Bettino each added a second on the game. Ordonez and Taylor each net their first collegiate goals.
In net for the Lions was
Nolan Cloney, who made a pair of saves to earn the shutout victory. Sample's assist moves him into a tie for fourth place all-time in program history, and he now has 21 on his career.
Next on the schedule for TCNJ is another non-conference match, this time at Stevens Institute of Technology on Oct. 17, at 7:00 p.m.
