HOBOKEN, N.J. – The College of New Jersey men's soccer team fell to Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday night by a final score of 3-1.
Stevens (13-2-1) took an early lead with a goal in the second minute. Around 45 seconds after that the Lions (9-5-2) had a chance for the equalizer, as
Ryan Vazquez sent in a header but was denied by the Ducks' keeper. In the 16
th minute, the Ducks scored again to claim a 2-0 advantage which they took into halftime.
The Lions found the back of the net in the 63
rd minute.
Nick Sample sent in a corner kick that was headed by
Matthew Nastarowicz. After Nastarowicz made contact with the ball it found
Michael Maltese who played it in to
Dante Bettino in close, and Bettino tapped it in to make it a 2-1 ballgame. The goal was the third for Bettino in the last two games.
The Lions held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks, while the Ducks owned a 16-10 lead in shots
Next up for the Lions is a New Jersey Athletic Conference game at Montclair State on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 6:00 p.m.
