ST DAVID, Pa. – The College of New Jersey field hockey team won their fifth straight game Tuesday afternoon, defeating Eastern University 7-0. The fourth-ranked Lions are now 8-1 on the season, while the Eagles fell to 2-9.
 
The Lions jumped out to a quick advantage scoring on a penalty stroke taken by Jackie Schwartz. Shortly thereafter, TCNJ extended the lead off a penalty corner. Kayla Peterson took the feed from Caroline Quinn and found the back of the cage.
 
Tori Tiefenthaler continued the Lions hot start finding Cayla Andrews for a 3-0 lead. Quinn would score her fourth of the season to put TCNJ up 4-0 going into the half.
 
In the second half, the Lions again scored early and often. Tori Hannah deflected in a shot from Iris Schuck. 25 seconds later Peterson found Andrews for her second of the game.
 
Hannah would close out the scoring in the 46^th minute. Quinn would earn her second assist of the game on the play.
 
Maddie Beaumont and Dani Britton combined for a shutout for the second time this season. Beaumont additionally has three solo shutouts.
 
The Lions return home when they host William Paterson in a conference game Saturday. Pushback is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
