ST DAVID, Pa. – The College of New Jersey field hockey team won their fifth straight game Tuesday afternoon, defeating Eastern University 7-0. The fourth-ranked Lions are now 8-1 on the season, while the Eagles fell to 2-9.
 
The Lions jumped out to a quick advantage scoring on a penalty stroke taken by 
Jackie Schwartz. Shortly thereafter, TCNJ extended the lead off a penalty corner. 
Kayla Peterson took the feed from 
Caroline Quinn and found the back of the cage.
 
Tori Tiefenthaler continued the Lions hot start finding 
Cayla Andrews for a 3-0 lead. Quinn would score her fourth of the season to put TCNJ up 4-0 going into the half.
 
In the second half, the Lions again scored early and often. 
Tori Hannah deflected in a shot from 
Iris Schuck. 25 seconds later Peterson found Andrews for her second of the game.
 
Hannah would close out the scoring in the 46
th minute. Quinn would earn her second assist of the game on the play.
 
Maddie Beaumont and 
Dani Britton combined for a shutout for the second time this season. Beaumont additionally has three solo shutouts.
 
The Lions return home when they host William Paterson in a conference game Saturday. Pushback is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
