Wayne, NJ…The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team topped William Paterson University on Saturday by a final score of 167-118. The Lions pushed their record to 4-4 and 3-1 in conference competition, and the Pioneers fell to 12-4 and 0-4 in the NJAC.
The Lions 200 medley relay team started the day off strong, as the squad of
Andrew Thompson (Milltown, NJ/Saint Joseph),
Brian Tucker (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brothers Acadmey),
Derek Kneisel (Linwood, NJ/Mainland Regional), and
Patrick Bakey (Somerdale, NJ/Paul VI) swam to a first place finish with a time of 1:41.35.Â
Kai Michaud (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) won the 1000 free with a time of 10:17.68, while
Griffin Morgan (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) and
Sam Maquet (Hillsdale, NJ/Pasquack Valley) took second and third with respective times of 10:22.98 and 10:28.93.
Joseph Skotnicki (Swell, NJ/GCIT) continued the success for the Lions, winning the 200 free as he clocked in at 1:51.04. Kneisel won the 100 back with a mark of 54.17, and
Logan Barnes (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington) swam to a first place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.62.Â
Bakey swam well in the 50 free, as he claimed first place with a time of 22.59, and Thompson took the top spot in the 100 free as he finished with a mark of 49.03.
Harrison Yi (Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) won the 200 breast, swimming to a 2:18.51 time, while
David Madigan (Lawrenceville, NJ/Notre Dame) finished in first place in the 500 free with a time of 5:03.74.Â
Highlighting the diving events was
Jay Soukup (Mulica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) who won the one meter with a score of 231.01.

The Lions will return to action for the Metropolitan Championships held at Rutgers University the weekend of February 16
