Game Recap: Lacrosse |

Lions Conquer Cavaliers

Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey lacrosse team won their third straight game to open the season defeating Cabrini College 19-1 Tuesday afternoon. The second-ranked Lions are 3-0 for the third straight season. The Cavaliers fell to 1-2.

Lions leading scorer on the season Alexandria Fitzpatrick (Burlington, NJ/Northern Burlington) opened the scoring just over ten minutes into the game, opening the floodgates as the Lions jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Fitzpatrick completed her hat trick during the run to go along with a pair of goals from both Olivia Cleale (Yardley, PA/Notre Dame (NJ)) and Erin Jaffe (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah). Cleale's assist on Fitzpatrick's third goal marked the 50th point of her young career.

After the Cavaliers answered with a goal of their own, TCNJ would find the back of the net five times in the final 4:13 of the half to take a 12-1 lead into the break. Kristin Biche (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Bishop Eustace) found the back of the net for her first two goals of the season during the run.

The second half was more of the same for the Lions, finding the scoring column seven times. Amanda Muller (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) scored three of her four goals during the second half and Fitzpatrick completed her third consecutive five goal game.

Cleale would finish the game just three points off the All-Time program record for points in a game scoring four goals to go along with six assists.

The Lions got an incredible effort in net from the combination of Miranda Chrone (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and Alexa Natalicchio (New Egypt, NJ/Notre Dame). Chrone allowed a single goal, making seven saves before ceding way to Natalicchio who made five stops without allowing a single goal.

TCNJ got five draw controls from Avery Sweeney (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley), part of a 16-5 team advantage in the category.

The Lions return to action Saturday, March 10 when they travel to Dickinson College for a 3:00 PM start.
