Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey baseball team (16-5, 5-2 NJAC) picked up a  victory over Stockton University (5-14, 2-5 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up on Thursday afternoon by a final score of 3-2.
The Ospreys had a man on first and second in the top of the sixth inning, however starting pitcher
Michael Walley (Yardley, PA/Notre Dame) induced a ground ball back to himself and the Lions turned the 1-6-3 double play.
Austin Lindsay (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) got the Lions out in front as he ripped a two run home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning, his second of the season. The two RBIs upped his total to 23 on the season.
The Ospreys loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh, and tied it up with a double down the left field line. Reliever
Dylan Crowley (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) got the first out by way of a strike out, then the Lions got out of the inning with an atypical double play. A fly ball was sent to right fielder
Mike Follet (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) who came up with a strong throw to catcher
David Cardona III (Elizabeth, NJ/Elizabeth). The runner at third held, yet the runner at second did not. Cardona threw it out to second and the return throw from
Danny Borup (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro South) nailed the runner trying to cross the plate to keep the game tied.
Patrick Anderson (Long Valley, NJ/Morris Central) came up with a clutch triple down the left field line to make it a 3-2 game in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Matt Curry (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) came on in the ninth inning and retired the Ospreys in order for his fourth save of the season.
Crowley was the winning pitcher, and put forward two strong innings out of the pen as he allowed only one hit while striking out two.
The Lions will complete the back end of the home and home with a trip to Stockton tomorrow, with the first pitch slated for 3:30pm.
