Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson University- Florham Campus on Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 14-4. With the win the Lions push their record to 20-5 and have now won six games in a row, and the Devils fall to 8-18 on the season.
The Lions scored first once again in the second inning, as
Danny Borup (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro South) knocked in a run with an RBI single. The Lions then blew the game open with a big eight run third inning.
Tommy McCarthy (Allentown, NJ/Allentown) continued to drive in runs, as he started the rally with an RBI single. Pat Anderson (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) knocked in another as he ripped a double to left field, then
David Cardona III (Elizabeth, NJ/Elizabeth) singled home Anderson to make it 5-0.
Zachary Shindler (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) and
Austin Lindsay (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) each added RBI singles to round out the Lions big inning.
Andrew Rowan (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) was the winning pitcher in his third start with the Lions, as he went eight innings and allowed four runs on five hits while striking out three. Borup, Shindler, Cardona III, and
Ryan Fischer (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) each picked up three hits.
