Lions Extend Winning Streak to Six with Senior Day Win

Senior Insert

Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey lacrosse team extended their winning streak to six, defeating Colorado College 14-4 on senior day in Lions Stadium. The third-ranked Lions improved to 13-2, while the Tigers dropped to 12-4. Prior to the game, the team honored its three graduating members Jaclyn Douglas (Malvern, PA/Great Valley), Elizabeth Morrison (Stonington, CT/Stonington), and Amanda Muller (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough).

The Lions were absolutely dominant in the opening half, jumping out to an 8-0 lead. Alexandria Fitzpatrick (Burlington, NJ/Northern Burlington), Kathleen Jaeger (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central), and Allie Gorman (Sicklerville, NJ/Washington Twp.) each chipped in a pair of goals. Olivia Cleale (Yardley, PA/Notre Dame (NJ)) added a trio of assists as the Lions built the lead.

The second half appeared to be on the same pace as the first, as the Lions extended the lead to 10-0 on goals from Jaeger and Kasey Donoghue (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape). Cleale contributed her fourth assist of the day, as she now has 67 assists in her career eighth most in program history. Quickly the Tigers responded with a three goal barrage of their own, the first two off the stick of Avery Melville.

TCNJ righted the ship with three straight goals of their own to put the game out of reach again. Both teams swapped goals to produce the final score.

Morrison enjoyed a fabulous senior day, leading the Lions in ground balls, caused turnovers, and draw controls.

In net, Miranda Chrone (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) made five saves to earn the victory.

The Lions now take to the road to resume conference play when they face Stockton University on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
