Top Ranked Lions Push Winning Streak to Seven

Galloway, NJ… The College of New Jersey lacrosse team lived up to their recently acquired number one national ranking defeating Stockton University 18-1 Tuesday night. The top-ranked Lions are 14-2 on the season and improved to 5-0 in the NJAC. The Ospreys dropped to 9-6 and are 2-3 in conference play.

The Lions jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, getting goals from Allie Gorman (Sicklerville, NJ/Washington Twp.), Erin Jaffe (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah), and Alexandria Fitzpatrick (Burlington, NJ/Northern Burlington). Olivia Cleale (Yardley, PA/Notre Dame (NJ)) assisted on a pair of the goals. Cleale would finish the game with a goal and career-high eight assists, increasing her assist total to 50 on the season. The 50 assists is tied for the third most in a season in program history.

After an Osprey goal, TCNJ rattled off six straight before the end of the half. Five Lions scored during the run that was sparked by Chloe Pottillo's (Woodbury, NJ/Camden Catholic) second of the season.

TCNJ would score nine unanswered goals in the second half. Kasey Donoghue (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) scored all three of her goals in the second period. Kathleen Jaeger (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) scored two of her three goals after the break as well.

Gorman led the Lions with nine draw controls. Abby Flagler (Califon, NJ/Voorhees) paced TCNJ with three caused turnovers. Elizabeth Morrison (Stonington, CT/Stonington) topped TCNJ with four ground balls.

The Lions will close out the regular season with a trip to Kean University Saturday afternoon. First draw is at 1:00 PM.
