GRANTHAM, Pa. – The College of New Jersey field hockey team scored twice in the game's final five minutes, but ultimately fell to Messiah College 4-2 Saturday afternoon. The third ranked Lions are 3-1, and the second ranked Falcons are 5-0.

Messiah got on the board just over five minutes into the game on a goal by Hannah Palm. The Falcons would take the one goal advantage into the half.

Palm opened the scoring in the second half as well. A pair of goals by Jennie Young increased the Falcon advantage to 4-0.

With just over three minutes remaining,
Caroline Quinn got the Lions on the board with her second of the season.
Kayla Peterson closed out the scoring less than a minute later with her fifth of the year.

The Falcons outshot the Lions 14-8, the first time TCNJ has been outshot this season. Messiah has now won four straight games in the series.

The Lions will remain on the road when they travel to Gwynedd Mercy University Tuesday, Sept. 18 for a 6 p.m. start.
