WAYNE, N.J. – The College of New Jersey field hockey team earned a second conference shutout in as many league games, defeating William Paterson 4-0 Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Lions remain unbeaten at 11-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Pioneers fall to 7-6 overall, and 0-2 in the NJAC.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Lions came out firing to begin the second. Three minutes into the frame.
Tori Tiefenthaler deflected a
Tori Hannah pass by the Pioneer goalie to give TCNJ a lead they would not relinquish. The goal gave Tiefenthaler her 100
th career point.

Minutes later, the Lions struck again. After earning a penalty corner,
Kayla Peterson received the insert from
Jess Hatch. Peterson took the shot to extend the Lions lead to 2-0. Before the half was finished, Hatch would score a goal of her own. The freshman took a shot that deflected off the goalie's pads and into the goal.

In the fourth quarter, Peterson ripped a shot from the top of the circle that produced the final score.

Maddie Beaumont made five saves in net to record the shutout.

TCNJ out-shot William Paterson 36-13 for the game.

The Lions return to action Tuesday, Oct. 15 when they travel to Albright for a 4 p.m. game.
