READING, Pa. – The College of New Jersey field hockey team retained the number two ranking in the NFHCA poll Tuesday, then earned a two-goal victory defeating Albright College 3-1. TCNJ improved to 12-0 with the win, while Albright dropped to 5-10.

Entering the game ranked fifth in the country in penalty corners per game, TCNJ earned a pair of penalty corners in the opening minutes. After Albright made a save on the first TCNJ chance, TCNJ made the second corner count.

Kayla Peterson, who fired a shot into the cage to put TCNJ on top.

In the second quarter, Albright was poised to tie the game when a shot of a corner got by
Maddie Beaumont.
Lauren Cammarata was in perfect position and cleared the ball for a defensive save, preserving the 1-0 lead.

Early in the second, TCNJ received an Albright lift and Emmalee Oslen found
Tori Hannah wide to the right of the circle. Hannah played a long ball to the front of the cage the
Cayla Andrews touched past the goalie for her 20
th goal of the season. Andrews becomes the first 20-goal scorer for TCNJ since Lexi Smith in 2015.

Late in the third quarter Andrews deflected another ball by the Albright goalie. Peterson controlled a loose ball at the top of the circle and fired toward the net where Andrews made the deflection.

Albright would break up the shutout late in the fourth quarter, but would get no closer as TCNJ would close out the victory.

TCNJ earned 11 corners to just three for Albright, and held a 33-6 shot advantage. Albright remained in the game with 19 total saves.

th-ranked Montclair State on Saturday. Pushback is at 7 p.m.
