ROME, Ga. - Matthew Michibata represented The College of New Jersey men's tennis team on day one of the ITA Cup hosted by Berry College Thursday. Michibata faced off against a field of 16 of the best tennis players in the nation, and ultimately struggled to an 0-2 record on the day.
Michibata drew Indraneel Raut of Gustavus Augustus in the opening round. Raut took the match in straight sets winning 6-2, 6-3. In the consolation bracket, Michibata was paired against Andrew Esses of Emory. Michibata wold ultimately fall in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
Michibata will play his third match at the ITA Cup against Alexander Angradi of Salisbury University Friday morning at 9 p.m.
