EWING, N.J. – TCNJ sophomore forward
Shannon Devitt was named Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team, selected by CoSIDA. The program takes nominations of players who achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3 and are significant contributors to the team. Devitt has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.92 while majoring in accountancy.
Devitt has excelled on the hardwood in addition to the classroom. A tremendous asset to the Lions, she has averaged 14.2 points and 12.7 rebounds per game on the season to lead the team. Devitt also has shot 53.1 percent from the floor which leads the team and has posted 17 double-doubles on the year. The 17 double-doubles ranks her eighth among all players in NCAA Division III as of February 21. She is also the New Jersey Athletic Conference's leading rebounder.
She additionally broke the program's single-season rebounding record. Devitt has tallied 329 boards on the campaign. For her efforts, Devitt was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Year, as well as All-NJAC First Team. She has earned NJAC Player of the Week honors four times this season.
With her selection to the Academic All-District Team, Devitt is now eligible for voting as a Google Cloud Academic All-America. The Academic All-America teams will be released in March.
CoSIDA began the distinguished Google Cloud Academic All-America program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors.
Currently, CoSIDA sponsors Academic All-America programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball and men's and women's track and field/cross country. Many other sports are eligible through the At-Large program.
