HAVERFORD, Pa. – The College of New Jersey lacrosse team suffered its first setback of the 2019 season, falling 12-10 on the road at Haverford College Tuesday afternoon. The third-ranked Lions fell to 1-1 on the season, while the Fords improved to 2-0.
Â
TCNJ allowed its first goal of the season just over a minute into the game on a free position shot. The Lions offense then exploded, responding with four consecutive goals in a 65 second span.
Kasey Donoghue kicked off the run win a free position goal of her own. After
Talia Bouzakis scored her first goal as a Lion,
Erin Harvey grabbed the draw and went straight to goal and found the back of the net.
Kaela Sierra book-ended the run with her second of the year.
Â
Alexandria Fitzpatrick scored her second goal of the game to put TCNJ up 6-4 with 16:00 remaining in the opening half. From that point, the Fords used a 7-1 run spanning the remainder of the first half and beginning of the second.
Â
Fitzpatrick would attempt to bring the Lions back, scoring back-to-back goals midway through the second half, the latter assisted by
Kathleen Jaeger. Haverford would again respond, taking advantage of a TCNJ penalty to extend the lead back to three.
Â
Allie Gorman would cut the deficit to two again in the final minute, but the Lions final possession failed to produce a goal.
Â
Harvey set a career-high with eight draw controls for the Lions.
Â
TCNJ remains in the road when it travels to Fairleigh Dickinson University – Florham Campus Friday, Mar. 1 for a 4 p.m. game.
