No. 11 Lacrosse Bounces Back in Big Way

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The College of New Jersey lacrosse team bounced back in a big way Tuesday afternoon, defeating Ursinus College 16-1. The 11th-ranked Lions improved to 2-1 on the season, while the Bears dropped to 0-4.

Talia Bouzakis opened the scoring for the Lions just under a minute into the contest, kick-starting a nine goal run for the visitors. Bouzakis was key in the run with a pair of goals and an assist. Kasey Donoghue chipped in a pair of goals during the rally, the first coming on a free position attempt and the second coming on a feed from Olivia Cleale. Bouzakis record her first hat trick as a Lion scoring late in the game off a pass from Jessica Allen.

Alexandria Fitzpatrick scored the first of her three first-half goals with 17:50 remaining in the half. The goal marked the 100th point in the junior's career. She would finish with five goals and an assist.

Following a free-position goal from the Bears, Donoghue scored with just one second remaining in opening frame to give the Lions a 10-1 lead at the break.

The second half played out much like the first, as TCNJ continued to find the back of the net, while the defense clamped down in front in front of Miranda Chrone. Chrone finished the game with nine saves before ceding the game's final five minutes to Alexa Natalicchio.

The Lions outscored the Bears 6-0 in the second half.

TCNJ was dominant on the draw circle using a 12-6 advantage in draw controls to maintain possession throughout. Chloe Pottillo and Erin Harvey each had four individually to lead the squad.

The Lions return to action Saturday, Mar. 9 when they host Dickinson College at 1 p.m.
