No. 17 Lacrosse Extends Nation's Longest Active Conference Winning Streak

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The College of New Jersey lacrosse team used a 10-1 run to open the second half, breaking a half-time tie to defeat Rowan University 17-11 Tuesday night. The win by the 17th-ranked Lions (7-5, 3-0 NJAC) extends the nation's longest active conference winning streak to 62 games.
 
In the opening half, TCNJ jumped out to an early lead on back-to-back goals from Alexandria Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick led the Lions with six goals, while also adding an assist.
 
The Profs (8-5, 3-1 NJAC) responded with four consecutive goals, with a pair coming on free position attempts.
 
Trailing 5-3, TCNJ scored three straight goals to re-capture the lead. Fitzpatrick, Olivia Cleale, and Kasey Donoghue each found the back of the net during the rally. Cleale scored four goals and three assists in the game.
 
Rowan would score to tie the game at six going into the break.
 
Fitzpatrick scored to open the second half, sparking the run that would take control of the game. Cleale and Talia Bouzakis each scored twice, and Allie Gorman, Erin Harvey, and Donoghue also added goals during the 10-1 rally. Bouzakis had two goals and two assists, all in the second half.
 
Fitzpatrick was also a force on the draw circle recording a career-high seven draw controls.
 
"I recently got moved to the draw circle," said Fitzpatrick. "I just try to give my all on each draw and get possession for our team."
 
Kristin Biché and Lilly Bernardi held down the back line, each scooping three ground balls. Bernardi also added a pair of caused turnovers.
 
Miranda Chrone made seven saves to earn the victory in net.
 
TCNJ returns to action when they face 21st-ranked and currently unbeaten Colorado College in Ewing on Thursday night. First draw is at 7 p.m.
