No. 17 Lacrosse Wins Third Straight

EWING, N.J. – The College of New Jersey lacrosse team closed out the first half on a 10-0 run, pulling away from Ramapo College in an 18-3 victory Saturday afternoon. The 17th-ranked Lions improved to 9-5 overall and 4-0 in the NJAC. The Roadrunners fell to 6-7 and 0-4 in conference play.

Aliie Gorman opened the scoring, getting a feed from Olivia Cleale to put the Lions up 1-0. Cleale then found the back of the net herself to put TCNJ up two.

After a Roadrunner goal cut the deficit in half, the Lions got to work. TCNJ would score 10 straight goals to close out the first half, then continued the rally with the first two goals after the break. Alexandria Fitzpatrick got the run started with the first of her three goals. Erin Harvey scored twice and added an assist during the stretch. Kathleen Jaeger exploded in the rally, scoring four goals and assisting on another.

"The team has really started to come together," said Jaeger. "We have gone through a tough stretch of games recently, so we knew we just had to take care of the little things and we would come out on top."

In the game, Jaeger led all players with five goals and six points. Cleale and Fitzpatrick each scored hat tricks and added an assist. Harvey, Gorman, and Kasey Donoghue each scored twice. Jessica Allen found the back of the net while adding a pair of assists. Jennifer LaRocca scored her first collegiate point, assisting on Jaeger's fifth goal.

Entering the game, Ramapo led the NJAC in caused turnovers per game averaging over 12 per contest. TCNJ was effective at maintaining possession, committing just eight total turnovers in the game.

TCNJ held a 14-9 advantage in draw controls thanks to six from Fitzpatrick and five by Harvey. Fitzpatrick also led all players with three caused turnovers. Gorman and Cleale each scooped four ground balls.

The Lions are back in action Tuesday when they host Stockton University at 7 p.m.
