EWING, N.J. – Shannon Devitt of the TCNJ women's basketball team was named D3hoops.com Second Team All-Atlantic Region on Tuesday.
Devitt provided a strong junior season for the Lions. The Westfield, N.J. product averaged a double-double with 16.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. She also shot an efficient 49.7% from the field which led all players in the NJAC. Devitt posted a double-double in 12 games this season. Her 10.1 rebounds per game also ranked her second in the NJAC. Devitt was a key component to the Lions' third-straight trip to the NJAC Semifinals.
Devitt's success has put her among the leaders in TCNJ history in a few statistical categories. She is now second all-time in program history in rebounding with 867 boards. Devitt surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career. She is currently ranked 13
th all-time in TCNJ in scoring heading into her senior season with 1,092 points. She also stands third in blocked shots in program history with 174.
This marks the second consecutive season that Devitt has earned D3hoops.com All-Region honors. This season, Devitt earned First Team All-NJAC honors, also for the second straight season.
D3hoops.com accepted 769 nominations of student-athletes from who earned first or second team all-conference honors for all-region recognition. This is the 19th year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team, and this year's All-America team will be the 23rd annual All-American selections. The D3hoops.com All-American teams, along with those of the respective coaches' associations, are the only ones recognized in the NCAA record book.
