EWING, NJ. – The No. 13 TCNJ field hockey team outshot No. 4 Kean, 19-9, and had 13 penalty corners to Kean's six, but the Cougars scored in the first and fourth quarters to win, 2-0.

Kean got on the board in the first minute, going ahead immediately on a penalty corner. Jordan Thompson took a shot from the left side, and Megan Keeney deflected it in to make it 1-0 Kean.

The shots were tied at three at the end of the first half, but TCNJ turned up the pressure in the second half.

The Lions appeared to have a goal midway through the third period. On a penalty corner,
Camryn Ley ripped a pass to the left side of the cage.
Jess Hatch appeared to redirect the ball past Kean goalie Jenna Flemings. That joy, though, was short-lived as the goal was waived off.

The Lions continued to pressure. TCNJ had eight shots in each of the third and fourth quarters, and the Lions had 13 total penalty corners in the second half. Even with all the action, TCNJ couldn't find the equalizer.

Kean added an insurance goal of its own about midway through the fourth quarter. Lia DiPiazza scored off another penalty corner for Kean, doubling the Cougars' lead to 2-0.

TCNJ had four penalty corners in the final minutes of play, but the Lions were unable to get on the board.

Rayhanah Ahmed led all players with six shots, four on goal. Hatch had four shots, two on goal, and
Claire Engebreth had three shots, two on goal.

Dani Britton made six saved in goal for the Lions.

TCNJ returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 23, against Ramapo at the TCNJ Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex.
