EWING, N.J. – Sophia Foschini recorded her first career hat trick as the No. 13 TCNJ field hockey team shut out Albright, 8-0, on a soggy Tuesday afternoon at the TCNJ Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex.
Foschini scored two of her three goals in the first quarter. She put the Lions ahead for good when she scored just 1:24 into the contest.
Christina Cammarata earned the assist, and she scored five minutes later to double the TCNJ advantage to 2-0. Foschini scored at 13:28 to make it 3-0, giving
Jess Hatch assists on each of the last two first-quarter TCNJ goals.
Camryn Ley had a hand in all three second-quarter TCNJ goals as the Lions expanded their lead to 6-0 before halftime. She assisted on Hatch's goal 1:04 into the second, and she scored her first goal of the season just 1:01 later to extend the lead to 5-0.
Christina Cammarata netted her second goal of the game at 8:31 of the second, with Ley picking up the assist.
After a scoreless third,
Rayhanah Ahmed assisted on both TCNJ goals in the fourth. Foschini completed her hat trick with a goal to make it 7-0 at 5:37 of the fourth, and
Mia Lanzilotta capped the scoring with her fifth goal of the season at 8:18 of the fourth quarter.
The Lions outshot Albright, 17-2.
The Lions close the regular season at Montclair State on Saturday at 6 p.m.
