FULL RESULTS
GENEVA, N.Y. – The TCNJ men's tennis team competed at the ITA Regionals over the weekend at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and the Lions saw some success at the event.
Nikola Kilibarda upset the No. 2 seed, Theo Bourghelle, from NJCU in the second round in the singles tournament.
Nick Matkiwsky and
Akul Telluri upset the No. 3 seed, Drover-Mattinen/Stafanov, from RPI in the doubles tournament.
In the singles bracket,
Justin Wain,
Adrian Tsui,
Matthew Michibata and Kilibarda all won their first round matchups.
In the second round, Kilibarda scored the upset by defeating Bourghelle, 6-4, 6-3. Wain earned a second-round victory over Noah Gulla (Bard College), 6-2, 6-0. Michibata moved to the third round by defeating Ioannis Binopoulos (Union College), 6-0, 6-3.
All three fell in the third round, though.
On the doubles side, Matkiwsky/Telluri earned their upset win over Drover-Mattinen/Stafanov, 8-4. The TCNJ duo also won their second round match to qualify for the quarterfinals when they defeated Griff/Tsyvin of Hamilton, 8-4.
In the quarterfinals, however, the Skidmore team of Kulturel/Williamson defeated the Lions' pair, 8-4.
