GALLOWAY, N.J. – Five different TCNJ field hockey players scored on Saturday as the No. 11 Lions defeated Stockton, 5-1, in NJAC action. TCNJ scored in every quarter, including twice in the fourth period.
Kayla Cichlar scored the first goal 9:27 into the game, taking a pass from
Camryn Ley on the right side to score her 11
th of the season. In the second quarter, Ley got her second assist when her shot was deflected in by
Mia Lanzilotta to make it 2-0.
Just over two minutes into the second half,
Sophia Foschini batted a ball out of midair to make it 3-0 TCNJ.
Rayhanah Ahmed got the assist on Foschini's third goal of the season.
That was the score heading into the fourth, when
Christina Cammarata netted her first goal of the season on Ley's third assist of the game.
Stockton replied five minutes later to break the shutout and to cut the TCNJ lead to 4-1, but the Lions answered back just 1:01 later on a goal by
Claire Engebreth with another assist for Ahmed.
Sophie Popp led the Lions with three shots, two on goal.
The Lions return to action next Saturday with a home showdown with No. 3 Kean. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
