No. 14 Lacrosse Doubles Up Rowan

EWING, N.J. – Behind a career-high seven goals from Jennifer LaRocca, the TCNJ lacrosse team topped Rowan, 22-11, on Saturday afternoon. The 14th-ranked Lions improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC with the victory, while the Profs dropped to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

"I feel really happy with the way we played today," said head coach Sharon Pfluger. "We were really ourselves out there. The ball moved really well, and the team is showing more maturity each game."

The Lions came out of the gate strong, going up 8-1 midway through the first half as reigning NJAC Offensive Player of the Week, Erin Jaffe, scored four goals and added an assist during the run. Leading 10-4 later in the period, Jillian Westerby scored back-to-back goals and Larissa Hatzold added her second of the game to extend the lead to nine. Westerby would go on to complete her hat trick, closing out the scoring in the first half and putting TCNJ in front, 15-5.

Following a Prof goal to begin the second half, LaRocca and Anna Wright each scored twice as part of a five-goal run that put the game out of reach.

Veronika O'Donnell added her first career hat trick in the victory for the Lions as well.

Anna Devlin led the Lions' efforts to secure possession with a career-high 11 draw controls, helping TCNJ to a 23-11 advantage in the stat. Wayden Ay led all players in the game with four ground balls.

TCNJ has now won 14 straight against the Profs, dating back through the 2011 season.

The Lions return to action Tuesday when they travel to Stockton for a 7:30 p.m. game.
