CoSIDA Academic All-District Release

EWING, N.J. – Shannon Devitt, a senior member of the TCNJ women's basketball team, was selected CoSIDA Academic All-District, as announced by the organization on Thursday.

CoSIDA accepts nominations of student-athletes who carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average and are significant athletic contributors.

Devitt embodies the true meaning of a student-athlete. She has accumulated a 3.95 GPA while majoring in accounting. This is the third-consecutive year that Devitt has received CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.

In addition to her excellence in the classroom, Devitt has put forward a dominant career on the basketball court and goes down as one of the all-time greats in TCNJ history. This past season, she broke the Lions' all-time rebounding record and finished with 971 career boards. Devitt eclipsed Candy Kaschak's mark of 962 rebounds, which was a mark that stood since 1984. Devitt also ranks second in TCNJ history in blocks with 207 and sixth in points with 1,282. She tallied an even 50 double-doubles.

During her senior season, she averaged a double-double with 19 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. A strong low-post presence, Devitt averaged 3.3 blocks per game, which ranked seventh in the nation. Devitt's seven double-doubles in the shortened 2021 season also placed her 12th in all of NCAA Division III.

It's been a busy awards season for Devitt. In April, she received WBCA First Team All-America honors, one of the most prestigious awards a Division III women's basketball player can earn. She was also elected to the TCNJ Blue and Gold Hall of Fame. Devitt additionally was named to the WBCA All-Star team, the D3hoops.com All-Region team, First Team All-NJAC, and NJAC Defensive Player of the Year.

With her selection to the Academic All-District Team, Devitt is now eligible for Academic All-America voting. The results of that ballot will be announced in the end of May.

CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions.
