ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Mia Lanzilotta scored her first two career goals as the No. 7 TCNJ field hockey team shut out Eastern, 5-0, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions scored four of their five goals in the second half after taking a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
Despite that 1-0 score at the half, the Lions totally dominated the stats sheet. TCNJ outshot Eastern, 11-0, in the first half on its way to outshooting them 21-0 for the game.
Jess Hatch scored that first-half goal for TCNJ, scoring off an assist from
Camryn Ley with 7:25 remaining in the second quarter.
In the second half,
Emmalee Olsen scored 9:44 into the third period, and she followed that by assisting on Lanzilotta's first goal of the game with just 25 seconds left in the third.
The Lions salted the game away with two more goals in the fourth.
Kayla Cichlar scored on a feed from
Sophie Popp at 4:54 of the fourth, and Lanzilotta netted her second goal just 34 seconds later.
The Lions return to action on Saturday at William Paterson at 1 p.m.
