INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Andrew Thompson,
Lukas Blach,
Conrad Hoody, and
James McChesney of TCNJ Men's Swimming secured All-America honors in the 800 free relay on Day 3 of the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis.
The Lions' distance quartet finished 10
th in a time of 6:37.38. They were third through the first two heats, guaranteeing themselves at worst an 11
th-place standing at the conclusion of Friday night's top seeded heat. Their clocking wound up being faster than one of the eight entries in the last heat, moving TCNJ's unit up to 10
th.
At the end of the night, TCNJ stood in a tie for 21st in the team standings with 34 total points.
McChesney, who swam the anchor leg, earned his third All-America certificate of the week, and his first such citation as a member of a relay. Blach and Hoody, making their NCAA debuts this week, became All-Americans for the first time, while Thompson collected his third career All-America honor after receiving a pair of CSCAA laurels in 2020.
The Lions wrap up the NCAA Championships on Saturday, and it has the potential to be a massive closing day. Blach and Hoody will compete in the 1650 prelims, and McChesney is slated to swim the 100 free.
Dixon Kahler, McChesney, Thompson, and
Matt Watts will also shoot for All-America recognition in the 400 free relay.
