EWING, N.J. – Ally Tobler scored six goals and
Jennifer LaRocca had seven points as the No. 10 TCNJ women's lacrosse team defeated Lebanon Valley, 19-4, in the team's home opener on Saturday afternoon at the TCNJ Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
Tobler scored three of her goals in the first quarter as the Lions raced out to a 7-0 lead after one period and 9-0 nine minutes into the second quarter. TCNJ got its first three goals within 1:25 of each other, with
Larissa Hatzold getting the Lions on the board with 12:31 left.
Anna Devlin followed 54 seconds later, and Tobler made it 3-0 just 31 seconds later.
After LaRocca made it 4-0, Tobler scored twice in a row to make it 6-0.
Anna Wright scored with 3:33 left in the quarter to make it 7-0. Hatzold scored early in the second quarter to make it 8-0, and Wright scored with 6:00 left in the first half to complete the 9-0 run.
Jillian Westerby and
Veronika O'Donnell added goals in the second half as TCNJ pushed the game into the mercy rule early in the third quarter.
Hatzold and LaRocca each scored three times, and Westerby and Wright each scored twice. Westerby also led the team with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Wright had a team-high three assists.
The Lions outshot Lebanon Valley, 43-15, and forced 21 LVC turnovers.
Both TCNJ goalies had multiple saves, with
Julia Charest making four stops in 39 minutes of work.
Hailey Wexler also had a pair of saves in the final 21 minutes of gameplay.
TCNJ returns to action at Cabrini on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
