LaRocca Named Conference Selection for NCAA Woman of the Year

7/25/2022 2:06:00 PM

EWING, N.J. – Former TCNJ lacrosse standout Jennifer LaRocca this week was named an NJAC nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions.

LaRocca put together the most prolific campaign in program history with a school-record 140 points, scoring 63 goals with 77 assists, the second-highest single-season assist total at TCNJ. She was ranked in the top-10 in the NCAA in both points and assists. LaRocca was named First Team All-American and First-Team All-Boardwalk Region by the IWLCA, and she was chosen as NJAC Attack Player of the Year and First-Team All-NJAC.

Off the field, she was a multiple-time member of the Dean's List as a mechanical engineering major. LaRocca also served as a TCNJ Peer Tutor, the Outreach Chair of Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity, and as a member of both the Society of Women Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Conference-level nominations will be forwarded to the NCAA Woman of the Year Selection Committee, which will choose the top 10 honorees in each of the three NCAA divisions. The NCAA will announce the Top 30 honorees on ncaa.org in October.

LaRocca joins Zoe Chan from TCNJ women's swimming at conference nominees.

From those 30 candidates, the selection committee determines the top three finalists in each division. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will select the Woman of the Year from the nine finalists. The 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced during an award ceremony at the NCAA Convention in January.
