ROME, Ga. – TCNJ men's tennis'
Matthew Michibata lost his second singles match at the ITA Cup on Friday, while his doubles match with
Harrison Maitland-Carter was suspended just three games into the evening session.
Michibata conceded a 6-2, 6-3 defeat to George Fox's Eli Mizerski in his morning singles match, falling to 0-2 on the weekend. He will meet NJAC rival Luke VanDonslear of Wisconsin-Whitewater at 1 p.m. on Saturday, with the winner advancing to the 13
th-place match. The two have never faced off, but VanDonslear played No. 2 singles for the Warhawks in last year's NJAC title match, with Michibata taking on John Zakowski at No. 1.
Michibata and Maitland-Carter, who dropped an 11-9 super tiebreaker thriller in their opening round match on Thursday night, were trailing 2-1 (on serve) in the first set against a team from Carnegie Mellon when rain hit the Rome Tennis Center. Main draw matches moved indoors, while consolation matches will be completed on Saturday.
