MADISON, N.J. – Matthew Michibata put an exclamation point on a historic weekend at the ITA Northeast Regional, extending his stay into Monday to claim the singles championship with an emphatic straight-set victory.
 
Michibata downed RPI's Okada Tsubasa 6-1, 7-5 at Drew to become the first TCNJ regional singles champion since assistant coach Michael Klimchak '08 in 2007 and secure All-America status for the fall. The sixth-year standout had already won the doubles title alongside Harrison Maitland-Carter on Sunday.
 
Michibata, who notched his 135^th career victory on Monday, will head to Rome, Georgia in 10 days to compete in both singles and doubles at the ITA Cup with a chance to secure fall All-America status in both events.
