GALLOWAY, N.J. – The No. 4 TCNJ lacrosse team dominated Stockton, 16-2, on Tuesday night in a road conference game that handed the Lions the NJAC regular season title. Senior attack Anna Devlin tied for the team high with four goals, pushing her over the century mark in career tallies.
The goal-scoring beyond Devlin's four was varied, and she shared top mark on the scoring sheet with Ally Tobler. The pair combined for half of the team's goals, but six other players scored at least once. Anna Wright recorded a hat trick, and five other Lions each scored once.
After Wright made it 1-0 just 2:47 into play, Devlin scored her 99th and 100th career goals just 49 seconds apart midway through the period. Kira Sides made it 4-0 a couple of minutes later, but Stockton got on the board in the final minute of the period to make it 4-1.
Tobler and Devlin each scored twice in the second quarter, and Jillian Westerby added a tally with 2:41 left in the half to send the Lions into the intermission with a 9-1 lead.
Morgan Vaccaro and Veronika O'Donnell each scored in the third period, and Larissa Hatzold's woman-up goal with 4:09 left in the quarter sent the game into the mercy rule. Hatzold also had two assists and a team-best four ground balls. Katherine Naiburg joined Hatzold with two assists.
Julia Charest made three saves in earning the victory. Two of those three saves came in the first quarter before the score heavily favored the Lions.
Devlin's milestone came just a few days after she set the program record for career draw controls. She entered Tuesday's game with an even 300 DCs, the first player in program history to reach that number. She added seven more on Tuesday night.
The Lions had a 19-11 advantage on ground balls and a 15-6 edge in draw controls. TCNJ also outshot Stockton, 34-9. Tobler had a team-high eight shots with five on goal.
TCNJ goes on the road Saturday for a stiff non-conference test at No. 5 Salisbury. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
