PITMAN, N.J.- Five TCNJ student-athletes were selected for NJAC weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
The honorees included a women's tennis player of the week, a women's track athlete of the week, a women's lacrosse offensive player of the week, a men's track athlete of the week and a men's field athlete of the week.
Charlotte Roarty- Women's Tennis Player of the Week:
In the NJAC playoffs against Rutgers-Camden and NJCU, Roarty went a perfect 3-0 in her doubles and singles matches. Against Camden, she won her No.1 doubles matchup, 8-3, alongside
Jenny Landells. Against NJCU, she won at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-2 before clutching out a No. 1 doubles win 8-7 (7-3).
Valandra Riggins- Track Athlete of the Week:
Riggins won the 100-meter dash running 12.34 Saturday at the Lions Outdoor Invitational and leading off the 4x2 to the third fastest time in Division III and the second fastest time in school history (1:40.93). She beat all conference competitors in the 100 and the relay beat all conference competition.
Anna Wright- Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week:
Wright played an instrumental role in TCNJ's win and only game this past week. Anna's speed and dynamic explosiveness aided tremendously in the transition game and set the tone for the Lions. She tallied a remarkable 6 goals and 5 assists for 11 points. In addition, she hit the 100 Career Goal milestone mark earlier this season. Wright's strong offensive play paced and supported TCNJ in its last regular season victory.
Kevin Christensen- Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Kevin ran a season best of 9:16.11 in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Penn Relays on Thursday. His time is the fastest in the NJAC and the metro region.
Stephen Daramola- Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Stephen threw a personal best in the shot put at the Lions Outdoor Invitational on Saturday, throwing 14.89m. His throw is the second best in the NJAC and the 4th best in the metro region.
