BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – On the first day of the NCAA Indoor National Championships, the TCNJ men's track and field team got off to a good start, with
Maxim Rychkov qualifying for the finals in both of his individual events, the 4x400 relay punching their ticket as well, and
Jayvee Dumas getting started in the heptathlon.
Dumas got started before noon, and has competed in the 60m, long jump, shot put, and high jump so far. He currently sits in 18
th place, which is just two spots away from All-American status.
After Dumas finished up for the day, Rychkov lowered his program record in the 60 to 6.68 — the second-fastest time in the field. A few hours later, he also punched his ticket for tomorrow in the 200 with a time of 21.23 (4
th).
Rychkov and
Anthony Senatore did not run in the 4x400 prelims on the first day, with
Victor Akinboboye and
LeBron Rose running in the relay instead. The newcomers alongside
Noah Traverso and
Nate Adams got the job done, placing exactly eighth (3:16.11) to qualify for tomorrow's finals. Traverso played a particularly important role in TCNJ qualifying, as he ran the second-fastest leadoff leg of the entire field (48.16).
