EWING, N.J. – A victory fit for a queen.
The TCNJ field hockey team routed William Paterson, 7-0, on Saturday to make Sharon Pfluger the winningest head coach in Division III history. The victory was the 667
th in the legendary career of Pfluger, who passed longtime Lynchburg coach Enza Steele for the division record and ranks third in NCAA history for all divisions.
The Lions (8-4, 2-0) left little doubt in this one, scoring inside the first five minutes en route to their fifth consecutive shutout victory. The rest was a formality.
Rayhanah Ahmed netted the first of her two goals to open the scoring, finishing a feed from
Mackenzie Hart.
Claire Engebreth doubled the spread late in the first, punching home a shot after a flurry in front of the cage.
Engebreth set up Ahmed's second goal of the day early in the second quarter, sending a long pass ahead for the senior star to settle and shoot into the corner of the cage.
Prisha Dhruve tapped in a rebound with 1:23 to go before halftime to up the lead to 4-0.
Ahmed logged an assist midway through the third period, setting up
Avery Vacca for an easy tap-in. Rookie
Ali Simmons then scored the first two goals of her career just 3:18 apart, one assisted by
Karlie Warner and the other by Dhruve.

Abygail Jamison played the fourth quarter and made a save to preserve the clean sheet.

- Ahmed led all players with six shots in a balanced effort that saw hefty shot totals from Bella DiNardo (4), Engebreth (4), Jadyn Huff (4), and Isabel Maher (3)
- Sofia Chebookjian made 12 saves for the Pioneers
NOTES
- Ahmed's two goals gave her a team-high 10 on the year, and she upped her career point total to 98 with five on the afternoon
- Ahmed moved into a tie for 10th on the program's all-time charts with her 32nd career assist
- Warner's assist was the first of her career
- Dhruve posted her second game of the year with a goal and an assist; the other was the opener against DeSales
- Jamison made her third appearance of the season and registered her first career save
- TCNJ has not conceded a goal in nearly 320 minutes of game time
