Field Hockey Claims Late Win Over Montclair State on Senior Day

EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ field hockey team defeated visiting Montclair State in dramatic fashion after Mackenzie Hart's lone goal of the game in the 59th minute gave the Lions a 1-0 victory in a big NJAC matchup Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.

Hart's game winner came via a corner after intense pressure in front resulted in the tally.

The Lions (9-5, 3-1) turned it up in the fourth quarter with a 6-1 shot advantage after both teams produced just five shots after the first three quarters. All six fourth-quarter shots came in the game's final 11 minutes.

The Lion defense played well, including a key goal-mouth block by Rachael Tetzlaff in the second quarter.

Montclair State (10-4, 3-1) finished the contest with the game's only man advantage in the final minute, but could not get the equalizer.

Brigitte Racey needed just one save to preserve the shutout.
