Fast Start Fuels No. 11 Lacrosse's Win at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. – The No. 11 TCNJ women's lacrosse team dominated the bookend quarters in posting a 19-8 victory at Cabrini on Tuesday and snapping a three-game losing streak in emphatic fashion.
 
Ally Tobler went off for six goals and two assists, CJ Kole paired career highs of three goals and four assists, and Marissa Lucca netted four goals of her own for the Lions, who outscored the Cavaliers 6-0 in the first frame and 5-0 in the fourth.

  • Both teams now stand at 6-3 overall
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • TCNJ was on cruise control early, getting three goals from Tobler as part of a 6-0 opening salvo
  • Tobler opened the scoring about four minutes in, then set up a woman-up tally from Kole in the final minute of the frame; Kira Sides also scored a goal and assisted on another in the first 15 minutes
  • Cabrini, playing its final season as an athletic program, scored first in the second quarter and got the lead down to 7-3, but Tobler scored on a feed from Sides and then set up Lucca a minute later
  • Madison Wernik assisted on markers by Morgan Vaccaro and Kole before the break, helping the Lions open up an 11-4 advantage
  • Cabrini got as close as 13-8 with 1:48 remaining in the third, but Kole stopped a 3-1 run by the hosts with another Wernik-assisted goal in the last minute of the period
  • TCNJ dominated the fourth, with Kole assisting on two Lucca goals sandwiched around one by Tobler in a span of only 79 seconds
  • Gabriella Roosa got on the board later on in the stanza, and Lucca topped off the scoring with a last-minute strike on a helper by Kole
FOR THE FOES
  • Morgan McClintock, Whitney Hershey, and Caroline Gallagher each scored two goals
  • Callagher (5) and Alena Catka (4) combined for nine draw controls
  • Abbey Fenton finished with six saves
STANDOUT LIONS
  • Tobler scored on six of her eight shots and snared nine draw controls, one off her career high
  • Kole's hat-trick was her second of the season, and the four assists surpassed her entire season total coming into the game
  • Lucca notched her fifth hat-trick of the year
  • Sides had two goals and two assists
  • Wernik had one career assist entering the day but tripled that on Tuesday, also posting five draw controls and four ground balls
  • Emily Potenza racked up six ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Kileigh Pfluger matched her by forcing three turnovers
  • Julia Charest saved more than half of Cabrini's on-target shots, finishing with nine saves
