Lacrosse Cruises Past Kenyon

EWING, N.J. - The 13th-ranked TCNJ women's lacrosse team continued its five-game homestand with a matchup against Kenyon Saturday afternoon, jumping out to a 5-1 lead after one and never looking back en route to the 17-3 win.

The Lions (3-0) were led by their Preseason All-American duo in Ally Tobler and Marissa Lucca. Tobler paced TCNJ with a career-best seven goals while Lucca stuffed the stat sheet with two goals and a game-high five assists. Veronica Campbell also secured her second hat trick in as many games, finishing second on the team with three scores.

Saturday's game was scoreless through the opening five minutes before CJ Kole and Tobler scored a pair of goals just 14 seconds apart to open the game for TCNJ. Kole's eighth goal of the season came on a free-position chance in which the sophomore drove hard toward goal and sent a high shot into the back of the net to give the Lions the lead. Just 14 seconds later it was Tobler's turn, with the fifth-year winning the draw control and taking the ball down the field for a quick score to double TCNJ's advantage.

Campbell would strike for her first of three goals on the day with 6:59 to go before Tobler secured the first-quarter hat trick with back-to-back goals to build the lead to five. The Owls (2-3) got one back before the break, capitalizing on a turnover in the midfield to set up Ashley Quinn for the score and make it a 5-1 game after the opening quarter.

Abbie Teefy started the festivities in the second frame with her first collegiate goal, taking a feed from Lucca and sending a bouncer into the back of the net for the first of nine straight TCNJ goals over the next 18:38. Lucca got herself one just a minute after Teefy's on a free-position attempt to make it 7-1 before Campbell and Tobler scored just 27 seconds apart to balloon the lead to eight. In a quarter in which the Lions outscored Kenyon 6-0, it was Gabriella Roosa and Tobler finding the twine to close out the half with TCNJ in front 11-1.

Roosa, Kole, Lucca and Tobler converted again in the third quarter as part of a 4-1 frame before Campbell and Tobler capped off a dominant display with a pair of goals – Tobler's was her career-best seventh of the afternoon – in the fourth to secure the 17-3 victory.

Julia Charest earned her third win of the season between the pipes for the Lions, allowing just one goal and making four saves before being relieved by Hailey Wexler – the senior would allow two scores with four saves in her second action of the year.
