MADISON, Wisc. – Five members of the TCNJ men's tennis team received All-WIAC honors as the league released its annual awards on Wednesday.
Harrison Maitland-Carter was named WIAC East Division Player of the Year and repeated on the All-WIAC East singles and doubles teams, while
Sidd Arudi was selected as the East Division Newcomer of the Year.
Brett Schuster and
Alberto Thomas joined Maitland-Carter as first team selections in singles, and the Lions' No. 2 doubles pairing earned repeat first team awards in doubles. Maitland-Carter and partner
Asa Wong were also named to the East Division first team in doubles.
Maitland-Carter dominated his two East Division matches at No. 1 singles, dispatching his opponents from Oneonta and Rutgers-Camden in straight sets. He and Wong, meanwhile, survived a stiff challenge from Oneonta for a 7-6 (6) win in their matchup at No. 1 doubles.
Maitland-Carter is now a three-time all-conference honoree in both singles and doubles between the NJAC and WIAC. He finished the season 11-6 in duals at No. 1 singles while going 13-4 with Wong on the top court.
Schuster lost one game total in his conference matchups, teaming with Thomas for a pair of 6-0 shutouts at No. 2 doubles and dominating his opponents at No. 3 singles. Thomas, meanwhile, prevailed 7-5, 6-4 in his No. 2 singles matchup with Oneonta. The duo finished 9-7 in duals, with Thomas posting an 8-8 mark at No. 2 singles.
Arudi teamed with
Nathan Chan for a pair of 6-0 victories at No. 3 doubles against Oneonta and Rutgers-Camden. The rookie combined to finish 8-3 at No. 3 doubles, with all but one of those matches coming alongside Chan.
Additionally, first-year
Max Nussbaum was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
