EWING, N.J. – Led by sophomore
Sawyer Stellitano, the Lions placed 13 runners in the top-15 to make it two team wins in a row to start the 2025 season.
Stellitano finished the 6,000-meter race with a time of 20:03.41, finishing 4
th overall. That time was a marked 46.49 seconds better than the time he posted in this event last year. TCNJ runners finished in places 5 through 13 as well, making it a well-rounded team performance on Friday evening.
Finishing after Stellitano in 5
th place was
Nate Kidwell (20:18.80), who shaved off more than 15 seconds off of his time in last year's Herb Lorenz Invitational. Close behind him were
Kevin Matthews (20:20.30) and
Matt Granizo (20:20.40), who finished 6
th and 7
th respectively. Finishing after them was the sophomore trio of
Jack Segalla (8
th, 20:26.60),
Will Evarts (9
th, 20:35.30), and
Anthony Thomas (10
th, 20:42.80), who rounded out the Lions' top 7 finishers in the race.
It was a close battle between the teams at the top, with TCNJ (30 points) just barely eking by Goldey-Beacom College (32 points) to claim the win. These two programs will see each other again in a few weeks at the Paul Short Run on October 3.
With this, the Lions have finished their second and last home meet of the year. TCNJ now looks ahead to the Osprey Open, which will take place on September 20 in Galloway, New Jersey.
