EWING, N.J. – The No. 4 TCNJ wrestling team wrapped up its dual-meet season in style on Friday night, posting four tech falls and two pins among eight contested bouts of a 47-5 demolition of visiting York.
Matthew Griffin and
Luke Theis had the pins for the Lions (17-5), who racked up a whopping 50 points on near-falls alone.
No. 5 Griffin dropped Luke Ragusa in just 63 seconds at 125, and the Spartans forfeited 133 to
Garrett Totten to stake the Lions to a 12-0 lead just over a minute into the dual.
No. 7
Vinnie Santaniello had seven near-fall points in a 17-1 tech fall over Jacob Grzybek at 141, finishing it off with a takedown 29 seconds into the second period.
No. 14
J.J. Giordano made it two techs in a row with a 16-1 defeat of Ryan Brown at 149, posting seven near-fall points of his own in the first quarter and polishing off the victory with a takedown with 53 seconds remaining in the second.
Colin Menier shook off an early takedown by Frank Gulli at 157, flipping the match on its head with takedowns in each period on the way to a 12-5 decision.
Jordan Ayyash won by forfeit at 165, and No. 1
Hunter Mays resumed the torrent of tech falls with a 19-1 rout of Aaron Land at 174. Mays had five near-fall points and an 11-1 lead after one period, then tacked on consecutive four-point near falls to sew up the result with 4 seconds left in the opening frame.
Luke Theis pinned Devon O'Dell in exactly two minutes at 184 before York broke up the shutout bid thanks to a tech fall from No. 2 Josh Stahl at 197.
Alejandro Camarena made his season debut a memorable one, scoring a 19-1 tech fall against Christopher Farrant at heavyweight. Camarena, who also plays football at TCNJ, racked up 13 points in the first period alone and clinched his first victory of the year with a takedown at the midway point of the second stanza.

- TCNJ has won five in a row over the Spartans in a series that has taken place nearly annually since 2010
- The Lions' 17 dual victories are their most in a single season since the 2015-16 squad finished 18-3, and it represents the second-largest tally in head coach Joe Galante's 15-year tenure

- Santaniello notched his ninth tech fall of the year, tied with Totten for second on the team
- Mays finished the regular season a perfect 20-0 overall and won his 50th match in a TCNJ singlet; he is 50-8 since joining the Lions last season from Lehigh

- Theis tallied his third pin of the year
