Game Recap: Lacrosse | | Andy Edwards

Kole's Huge Night Helps Lacrosse Cruise at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The No. 15 TCNJ women's lacrosse team scored the game's first dozen goals – including 10 in the first quarter alone – and rolled to a 17-5 victory at Moravian on Wednesday evening.

CJ Kole racked up a career-best 11 points on five goals and six assists and Kelly Nevins matched her with a career-high five goals of her own for the Lions (2-0), who went wild for six goals in a span of two-and-a-half minutes later in the opening quarter to all but put the game to bed.

TCNJ scored on its first four possessions, starting with a free-position tally for Kole – the first of three for the prolific junior on the night. Marissa Lucca struck the back of the cage with an assist to Emily Potenza before Kole finished a feed from rookie Jules Bade. After Kole controlled the ensuing draw, she found Abbie Teefy for a goal and a 4-0 lead just over five minutes into the contest.

It took more than five minutes for TCNJ to dent the scoreboard again, but once it did the floodgates opened wide. Kole set up a goal by Lucca, the first of a half-dozen over the next 149 seconds. Nevins netted a pair of markers in a 32-second span – one on a free-position shot and another after a Greyhound green card – and Lucca managed to facilitate three goals in a 43-second blitz that left the Lions up double-digits before the end of the first period.

Kole first set up a goal by Lucca, then scored herself on an assist from Nevins before once again assisting on a Teefy tally for a 10-0 lead.

Lucca completed her first-half hat-trick 42 seconds into the second stanza, then assisted on another goal by Nevins to up the lead to 12-0 before Moravian (2-3) finally dented the scoreboard at the 7:21 mark of the frame.

The Greyhounds ended the first half on a three-goal run, but Kole got right back to work to restore a double-digit spread early in the third quarter with the first of her two markers in the quarter. The Lions ran off five straight goals, including the first collegiate tally for Ella Okurowski, before Moravian stopped the bleeding with two of its own in the final five minutes.
