PITMAN, N.J. – Three TCNJ student-athletes garnered weekly NJAC recognition, as released by the conference this afternoon. Lacrosse's
Hailey Wexler and
Abby Williams were named the NJAC's Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week respectively, with women's track's
Lucia Garcia-Beltran rounding out the Lion trio with her Track Athlete of the Week nod.
Wexler turned in one of the finest performances of her career on Saturday, when she matched her career high with 13 saves - many of them at point-blank range - in the Lions' 6-4 loss to unbeaten Salisbury. Wexler's heroics helped TCNJ limit the Sea Gulls to just one goal in the first half, and Salisbury's six goals marked its lowest tally of the year by half.
Williams had another productive week at the head of the Lions' defensive unit en route to her second Rookie of the Week selection, racking up five caused turnovers and four ground balls in a win at Kean before pairing three caused turnovers with three ground balls against the unbeaten Sea Gulls Saturday.
Garcia-Beltran is now a five-time Track Athlete of the Week after claiming two wins over the weekend. The senior posted a pair of national top-ten times at the TCNJ Invite & Multi, finishing with a 24.48 in the 200m – currently ninth in DIII– and an 11.81 in the 100m – currently seventh in DIII.
