Seven Lions Recognized in Final Edition of NJAC Weekly Awards

4/29/2026 9:25:00 AM

PITMAN, N.J. – Seven TCNJ student-athletes received weekly NJAC recognition, as released by the conference this morning. This will be the final edition of the conference's weekly awards in 2025-26 with postseason play officially underway for all spring sports beginning this weekend.

Marissa Lucca continued her red-hot run with two more huge performances as the Lions locked up the NJAC regular-season title with convincing wins over Stockton and at No. 17 Rowan last week. The senior superstar dominated Wednesday's 17-3 rout of the Ospreys with a 12-point explosion on seven goals and five assists, one that also included five caused turnovers and four ground balls. She was just as impactful as TCNJ came from behind to earn a resounding 14-7 win at Rowan on Saturday, going for seven goals and three assists in addition to a trio of caused turnovers. In the process, Lucca went over 300 points for her career – the fifth player in program history to reach that milestone – and also joined Leigh Mitchell '12 and Ali Jaeger '11 as the only players in school history to surpass 100 points in multiple seasons.

Hailey Wexler was a standout between the pipes in TCNJ's victories over Stockton and at Rowan en route to her second Defensive Player of the Week nod. The senior finished with six saves - all of them coming on the Ospreys' first seven shots on goal - in a 17-3 defeat of Stockton on Wednesday, then made six saves to help the Lions hold the high-powered Profs scoreless for more than 36 minutes of game time in Saturday's 14-7 win in Glassboro.

Abby Williams completed the sweep of lacrosse's weekly awards as the Rookie of the Week, continuing her stellar play at the head of the defense. The freshman produced five caused turnovers and six ground balls in the 17-3 win over Stockton before pairing three grounders with three caused turnovers in Saturday's 14-7 win at No. 17 Rowan. In that game, Williams became only the second player in program history to record at least 50 caused turnovers in a season.

Elizabeth Gosse earned the fifth Pitcher of the Week selection of her career and first since 2024 after making two appearances in the circle for the Lions, going 2-0 with one complete-game shutout and a perfect ERA of 0.0. The senior opened her week tossing 2.1 frames against New Jersey City without allowing an earned run before putting together her best performances of the year in TCNJ's regular season finale against Montclair State. Facing off against the Red Hawks with a home playoff game on the line, Gosse threw her fourth complete-game shutout of the season, striking out a season-high seven batters while allowing just five hits in the Lions' 1-0 win that clinched them the four seed and a home game in the NJAC Tournament. The senior also reached a pair of milestones in the win, eclipsing 400 career innings pitched and 250 career strikeouts.

Elizabeth Ring, a first-time Player of the Week honoree, did not concede a single game in her four matches as the Lions won their 43rd consecutive NJAC championship with 4-0 sweeps of William Paterson and Rutgers-Camden. Ring won both of her matches at number six singles by double-bagel (6-0, 6-0), and paired with Gabriella Robinson to post a pair of 6-0 shutouts at number three doubles. Ring notched the clinching point in both TCNJ wins.

Kevin Matthews played a big role in the Men's DMR's record breaking run at the Penn Relays en route to his selection as the Track Athlete of the Week, leading off the opening 1200 in just 3:00.28. Isaiah Muse, Thomas Blach, and Brandon Chen kept up the strong pace to set a new program record with their time of 9:53.29. The group also finished 9th overall in the race, outpacing several Division 1 relays.

After running a PR in the 100 hurdles on Friday, Sarah Scepkowski earned her second weekly NJAC award of the season and first on the track. At the Rick McCorkle Invitational, she posted a 14.84 which is the third-fastest time in the NJAC currently.
