EWING, N.J. - Following a stellar junior campaign on both sides of the field, TCNJ softball's
Maya Knasiak has been named the NJAC's Pitcher of the Year. The junior – also a First Team honoree for the second straight season – is joined on the All-Conference list by Second Teamers
Elizabeth Gosse,
Morgan Leonhauser and
Gianna Vazquez, as well as Honorable Mentionee
Morgan Estelow.
Knasiak paired another dominant season in the circle with a career-year at the plate en route to her maiden Pitcher of the Year selection – TCNJ's first since Gosse in 2023. The junior led the conference in strikeouts (66), batting average against (.138), WHIP (0.68) and shutouts (4) during NJAC play, posting a 7-3 record with an ERA of 1.24. Adding in non-conference games, Knasiak finished the regular season ranked first in all of Division III in shutouts (10), second in WHIP (0.60) and hits allowed per seven innings (3.03), sixth in ERA (0.86) and seventh in strikeouts (150).
Almost as impressive as the junior's pitching was her emergence at the plate, where Knasiak slashed .386/.426/.773 – the latter of which led all qualifying players in NJAC play. The Mount Laurel-native notably finished second in the conference in home runs (4), helping the junior finish with more RBIs (17) at the plate than earned runs allowed (10) in the circle.
Gosse becomes the first pitcher in program history to be a four-time All-Conference honoree following her third straight selection to the Second Team. The senior finished the regular season with a 2.05 ERA in NJAC play, tallying a pair of complete-game shutouts while fanning 31 batters in 44.1 innings. Gosse's five walks are the second-fewest among pitchers who have thrown at least 40 innings, with her .250 batting average allowed ranking eighth.
Leonhauser put together a strong freshman campaign to earn her spot on the Second Team, slashing .308/.368/.481 with four doubles, nine RBIs and a team-high 11 runs in conference play. The first-year finished the regular season red-hot at the plate, batting .455 with three runs, four RBIs and her first collegiate home run in the Lions' final three games.
Vazquez makes her All-NJAC debut as a senior, garnering Second Team honors following a breakout year at the plate while remaining one of the best defensive infielders in the conference. The South Brunswick-native racked up more hits in NJAC play (18) this season than she had in the entirety of any of her first three seasons, adding eight runs and nine RBIs while starting every game. What separated Vazquez, however, was her defense, where she ranked second among all second basemen in fielding percentage (.983), committing just one error while accounting for 26 putouts and 33 assists, the latter of which was fourth-best among the conference's middle infielders.
Estelow rounds out TCNJ's All-Conference selections with an Honorable Mention nod. Moving up and down the batting order throughout the season, the senior slashed .306/.390/333 with eight RBIs and a team-high eight stolen bases – the most by a player without getting caught – in conference play. Estelow was an on-base machine to start the Lions' NJAC slate, reaching base safely in each of the Lions' first eight games against conference foes.
