Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey men's soccer team hosted Drew University on Wednesday afternoon in TCNJ's Soccer Complex in a non-conference match-up. The game went down as a 2-0 win for the Lions. Ranked No. 21 in the newest NSCAA Division III poll, TCNJ is riding a seven-game unbeaten streak and has not lost a home game in TCNJ's Soccer Complex since October 16, 2006 (2-0 to Muhlenberg College). With Wednesday's win, TCNJ is now 8-1-3 overall, while Drew drops to 6-5.
Sophomore Kevin Luber (Delran, NJ/Delran) added a goal and an assist to elevate his team leading numbers to six goals, seven assists and 19 points. Overall on his young TCNJ career, Luber now has seven goals, nine assists and 23 points in 28 games played as a Lion.
Senior defender Frank Fiorilli (Bridewater, NJ/Immaculata) put TCNJ on the scoreboard first when he converted a corner kick on a feed from Luber at 18:46. The goal was the second of the season for Fiorilli and the seventh assist of the fall for Luber, who leads TCNJ's scorers with his 19 points.
Senior Craig Langan (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) added an early goal for the Lions in the second half off a feed from senior Nicholas Kiel (Vineland, NJ/Sacred Heart) as TCNJ jumped out to a 2-0 lead at 47:09. Langan now has six goals this fall. Luber added his sixth goal of the year on a misplayed ball as he helped TCNJ jump out to a 3-0 lead at 60:22.
Drew's sophomore Greg Zizik (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) broke up TCNJ's shutout bid as he added his team leading fifth goal of the year at 60:43 as he got an assist from freshman Will Brackett (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo).
In net for the Lions, senior Steve Scuttellaro (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) made 12 saves, while Drew's rookie Jeff Rogers (Eldersburg, MD/Century) made 3 saves in the outing.
