Mary Washington's junior Amy Sheetz (Edmond, OK) had the decisive victory at fifth singles as she posted a 7-5, 6-4 win over TCNJ's junior Haley Kutner (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Dwight Englewood) giving her team the win.
TCNJ's top pair of senior Christina Contrafatto (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) and sophomore Jackie Shtemberg (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) were winner at first doubles as they beat UMW's top pair of junior Rebecca Morse-Karzen (Wilmette, IL) and senior Natalia Fugate (Tall Timbers, MD), 8-6. The Lion pair improves to 20-9 together this season with an 11-4 dual meet record, while the Eagles' duo drops to 11-5 on the year.
With her win at first singles over Morse-Karzen, 6-1, 6-3, Shtemberg improves to 22-8 in singles action and with her overall combined career mark standing at 93-27.
Sophomore Stefanie Haar (Morganville, NJ/Marlboro) was a winner for the Lions at fourth singles and is now 15-8.
