Frostburg, MD…Third-ranked The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team continued its strong push toward the post-season as the Lions won their fifth straight game with a 14-1 triumph at Frostburg State University on Saturday.
The win puts TCNJ at 14-1 on the season, while remaining perfect on the road winning all seven of their away games.
The Lions took control from the opening draw as they raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game. TCNJ kept adding to the advantage building that lead to 12-0 by the half.
Senior Toni-Anne Cavallo (Cedar Grove, NJ/West Essex) led the Lions with four goals and one assist with those four goals moving her past the 100-goal plateau for her career. The midfielder now has 101 career goals in 61 games.
Senior Karen Doane (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) turned in a five point effort with three goals and a pair of assists, while freshman Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) netted three goals with one assist and senior Diane Haddeland (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) chipped in with two goals and one helper.
The tandem of senior Caitlin Gregory (Winslow, NJ/Eastern) freshman Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) each played a half for the Lions facing only one shot.
The Lions round out the regular season on Tuesday, April 29 with a game at 19th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology in a 6 p.m. start.
