Baseball squad splits slugfest with Keene State

Phoenix, AZ –The College of New Jersey's baseball team faced No. 28 ranked Keene State College in a pair of games. The Lions and the Owls would come away with a split on the day. Keene State took game one, 17-4, while the Lions rebounded and earned a 16-12 win in 10 innings.

TCNJ stands at 5-5 on the year, while Keene State is 1-1.

Game #1
Sophomore Anthony Palmiotto (Manchester, NJ/Manchester Township) was 3-5 with a pair of runs scored, while senior Adam Tussey (Brooklawn, NJ/Gloucester) added a 3-4 effort with a run scored but it was not enough as the Owls would connect for 18 hits and 17 runs in the first game. Keene State's freshman Cody Callahan connected for seven RBIs in the game after going 4-5 with three runs after he added a pair of doubles and a homerun.

TCNJ's senior Dan Ramos-Dominko (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) took the loss and is now 0-2. He struck out nine batters in his 7.2 innings of work.

GAME #2

TCNJ's senior Jeff Toth (Parlin, NJ/Sayreville) would have a 5-6 performance with three RBIs, four runs scored and a homerun to lead the Lions. He would tally an RBI in the tenth inning as the Lions broke a 12-12 tie, while Tussey drove in two runs in the tenth as well and finished with a stolen base.

TCNJ's sophomore Connor Henderson (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) started for the Lions, while senior Eric Gertie (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) worked 3.1 innings for the Lions with seven earned runs off 10 hits and three strikeouts en route to the win and is now 1-0. Junior A.J. Adamczyk (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) made his Lion debut and worked one inning with two strikeouts.
