Pomona, NJ... The College of New Jersey (6-0, 5-0) clinched its 27th consecutive NJAC championship with a 9-0 victory over Richard Stockton (5-1, 2-1). Lauren Balsamo (Wall Twp./Wall) and Emily Petersack (Mercerville/Notre Dame) each won their singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores while Jackie Shtemberg (Franklin Lakes/Ramapo) won 6-0, 6-1.
Karisse Bendijo (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) and Allison Tierney (Berkeley Hts./Gov. Livingston) led the doubles sweep with a 8-0 shutout. The Lions have won every league title since women's tennis became a conference sport in 1982. TCNJ posted its 131st straight NJAC match victory and also dealt Stockton its first loss of the season.
Stockton and College of New Jersey both will compete in the ITA Northeast Regionals at William Smith College on September 25-27.
